Levels of Justice in Tenth-Century Northern Spain

In this paper, I will explore the conceptual stability of justice via a series of small case studies.  I am interested in the extent to which our search for ‘justice being done’ in the documents has had the effect of masking a broader concern that was felt by those who were active in delivering justice: namely, the preservation of stable social relations.
