Philippa completed her first degree at Somerville College Oxford, where she also completed a doctorate on the mid-thirteenth century bishops of Worcester. Before joining the University of Lincoln in 2010 she worked for fifteen years at the University of York.
She is the general editor and director of the British Academy’s English Episcopal Acta project; general editor of the Canterbury and York Society; general editor of Lincoln Record Society’s new Kathleen major series of medieval records and a member of the Lincoln Cathedral Advisory Group
Philippa is programme leader for the MA in Medieval Studies where she provides modules in palaeography, medieval Latin and the Church in medieval society. She also teaches on the History BA at all levels, providing courses on Medieval Man and the Supernatural at Level 2 and on the work of Matthew Paris at level 3. Philippa supervises doctoral students working on the medieval Church, including those interested in producing editions of medieval documents.
